Student Clinic Services

Student Massage Treatments

Massage treatments performed by students of The New School for Massage, under the supervision of an instructor. Student therapists will, at a minimum, be able to provide a Swedish (relaxation) massage; depending on their level of training at the time of the appointment, they may also have the skills to perform condition-specific work but we cannot guarantee that as appointments are randomly assigned to students at the beginning of their shift. If you have requests for a specific therapist, gender, conditions to be addressed, or specific bodywork modality, we recommend a professional therapist.

Available as 55 and 100-minute sessions.

Graduate Clinic Services

Graduate Massage Treatments

Massage treatments performed by recent graduates of The New School for Massage.  Our graduate therapists have completed their formal education, received their license, and are building hands-on experience in a professional setting.  While they may have less experience than seasoned professionals, they bring fresh knowledge, enthusiasm, and a commitment to providing exceptional care. The Graduate Clinic offers an affordable way to receive personalized massage therapy, making it a great option for regular wellness visits or those looking for high-value, professional care at a lower cost.

Available in 50, 80, and 100 minute sessions.

Professional Services

Customized Table Massage Session

This is a traditional western massage session, performed with the client on a massage table.  It consists of a system of gliding strokes, kneading, friction, and percussion techniques, combined with active and passive movements of the joints.   Depth of pressure, duration, direction, speed, frequency and rhythm of the technique can be modified to produce results consistent with the treatment objectives.  Based on your input, the therapist may work superficially or deeper into the muscles, tendons, and fascia of the body to work out adhesions, triggerpoints, scarring, and to promote positive structural change.

Available in 50, 80, and 100 minute sessions.

Mini Table Sessions

This is a short version of the Table massage Session, targeted to specific areas.  Choose from Head/Neck/Shoulders, Hands and Feet, or Lower body.

Available in 25 minute sessions

Chair massage

Chair Massage is a convenient and efficient form of massage therapy that is performed while the client is seated in a specially designed, ergonomic chair. This type of massage typically focuses on the high tension areas of the body, such as the back, shoulders, neck, and arms.  Chair massages are known for their accessibility and brevity, making them perfect for busy environments or events. They do not require the use of oils and can be performed over the client's clothing, offering a quick yet effective way to relieve stress and muscle tension. This form of massage is ideal for people seeking a moment of relaxation in their busy schedule.
Chair Massage promotes improved circulation, reduced muscle tension, and a sense of rejuvenation, all within a short session that can easily fit into a busy day.

Available in 20 or 35 minute sessions.

Specialized Massage Treatments

Pregnancy Massage

Table Massage to support the physiologic, structural, and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. Treatments performed by our therapists certified in pre and postnatal massage.
Prenatal massage has been found to reduce stress, decrease swelling in the arms and legs, and relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints. Techniques used in pregnancy massage usually vary with the mother's needs and comfort.  Safety precautions such as side-lying positioning and specially-designed cushions for support, and areas to avoid are taken into account when performing a pregnancy massage, making it distinct from other types of therapeutic massage.  It's always recommended that pregnant women seeking such a massage consult with a healthcare provider first and ensure they are working with a massage therapist certified in prenatal care.
Postnatal Massage is designed for new mothers, aiding in physical and emotional recovery after childbirth. It helps restore the body, alleviate muscle tension, and promote relaxation and wellbeing during the postpartum period

Available in 50, 80, and 100 minute sessions

Myofascial Cupping

Myofascial Cupping involves placing cups on the skin to create suction.  The cups may be set in place for a set period of time, or moved around over a larger area creating a kneading effect.   The suction creates a vacuum that draws the tissue upward into the cup. The skin may turn red as the blood vessels respond to the change in pressure.  The effect is release of fascia tissue adhesions, stimulation blood flow and circulation to the target area, and engagement of the parasympathetic nervous system to create a deep relaxation to the body.  The suction creates a mild bruising or discoloration which will go away within 10 days of the session.

Available in 50, 80, or 100 minute sessions

Pre/Post-Event Sports Massage

Pre/Post-Event Sports Massage is a specialized form of massage therapy aimed at athletes and active individuals, tailored for use before or after sports events.

The pre-event massage focuses on preparing the body for high-intensity activity. It uses stimulating techniques to increase circulation, flexibility, and mental clarity, reducing the risk of injury and enhancing performance.

The post-event massage, on the other hand, is centered around recovery. It employs soothing, gentle strokes to alleviate muscle fatigue, promote relaxation, and accelerate the body’s recovery process. This type of massage aids in flushing out metabolic waste, reducing muscle soreness, and preventing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

Both pre and post-event massages are integral to an athlete's regimen, enhancing their overall sports performance and aiding in quicker, more efficient recovery.

Available in 50, 80, and 100 minute sessions

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a gentle, rhythmic massage therapy that is renowned for its therapeutic benefits, especially in promoting the natural drainage of the lymphatic system. This system plays a crucial role in our body by aiding in the removal of waste products, toxins, and excess fluids. The technique involves light, soft strokes and gentle pumping movements directed towards the lymph nodes. This specific method helps to stimulate the flow of lymph fluid, which supports the body’s detoxification process and boosts the immune system. Lymphatic Drainage Massage is particularly beneficial for reducing swelling, improving skin texture, and promoting relaxation and wellbeing. It is an ideal treatment for those recovering from surgery, suffering from lymphedema, or looking for a holistic approach to health and relaxation. This soothing and healing massage not only aids in detoxification but also leaves you feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

Available in 50, 80, and 100 minute sessions
